Default Need Andrew Criddle's Thread About Marcus and the Latin word Murcus

There used to be a thread in the archives where Andrew Criddle had developed an etymology for Marcus. Does that still exist? All I remember is he proposed a pun which Latin-speaking people might have thought that Mark should be called murcus (= deserter, coward) and not marcus. I have a similar idea from Syriac ma'arq = fugitive http://cal1.cn.huc.edu/showjastrow.php?page=819

Anyone know where I can get a look at this thread? Has Andrew ever published this idea?

Thank you. I was wondering if Andrew has developed this any further, published this idea in print etc.

Hi Stephan

I've thought about the ideas in the thread, but I haven't got much further or published anything more widely.
