An active fornicator [a concubine] would not be accepted as a Christian in the Jesus cult. We have the writings of the cult.

Jesus cult writers wrote AGAINST Fornicators.

According to the Jesus cult Fornicators are worthy of DEATH and to be burned ETERNALLY by fire.

Acts of the Apostles 15.20
Quote:
But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Jude 1:7 KJV
Quote:
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication , and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Romans1
Quote:
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient ; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
An active concubine of a man who himself claimed to be a God could not have been a Christian in the Jesus cult of the 2nd century.

They who do such fornication are to be KILLED and burned eternally.

This isn't even worth discussing. The same information appears in other sources (Hippolytus, Ref. 9.12) Get a life. Do something useful. This is a complete waste of time.

Incidentally, Hammer tentatively identifies the Marcia the nurse in the Acts of Judas Thomas to be our girl http://books.google.com/books?id=k20...mas%22&f=false
.
I had not yet read this intervention by Stephan Huller, so my post about Hippolytus was a repeat ...I apologize

So what? Read Plato and Julian (as a monotheist). Pagans and Platonists are also claimed to be such.

Thomas C Oden explains the terminology as follows - "this could have implied either a seeker or someone inwardly drawn toward the righteous life who was willing to give Christians a voice and who was seeking life with God."

Thomas Clark Oden is an American United Methodist theologian and religious author
Since when do Christians have the exclusive intellectual property rights to consider themselves alone to be known as "philotheos"? Take the glasses off.

Homer also uses a "trusted nurse".

What your source states is this:

Quote:

"The trusted nurse is of course already a familiar figure
from tragedy and it is impossible to decide whether she
owes her existence to literature or to life - or to both."
But we all know you're scratching the bottom of the barrel when you start appealing to the Gnostic Acts as sources of history to support your own historical hypotheses.

What about Plato's Symposium

Quote:
Remember how in that communion only, beholding beauty with the eye of the mind, he will be enabled to bring forth, not images of beauty, but realities (for he has hold not of an image but of a reality), and bringing forth and nourishing true virtue to become the friend of God and be immortal, if mortal man may. Would that be an ignoble life?"

The quote furnished in this thread from the Philosophumena (the MS is full of Latinisms) was in English.

Hippolytus' Refutation of All Heresies 9

Quote:
... But after a time, there being in that place other martyrs, Marcia, a concubine of Commodus, who was a God-loving female...
