Post Atlanta ID seminar

<a href="http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/metro/0902/16evolution.html" target="_blank">Noted critics of evolution urge balance in the classroom</a>

Quote:
Daniel Ben-David of Alpharetta challenged Harris on his use of the term "evidence," after Harris described the improbability that amino acids could by chance become proteins, or that chemicals could be transformed by chance into living cells.

"You have shown no evidence," Ben-David said. "You have shown only the statistics that indicate the improbability. If you introduce other factors, they will influence your statistics."
This event was apparently arranged and hyped by the American Family (sic) Association of Georgia.

Attention Christain Parents:

This is a very important event. Mark your calendar to attend this Sunday 15th and the school Board meeting on the 26th. Public School Parents need to get involved in this. The more support that we have, and the more show of force from concerned parents the more likely the School Board will be convinced that creationism is needed in our public school system. I would also encourage you to contact your school board representative, principal and teachers to encourage them to attend the symposium at the Civic center.

------

There is an enormous amount of scientific evidence that concludes the only reasonable explanation of the origin of life because of the complexity is to be found in the fact of a designer. There is no need to answer the philosophical question of who is the designer. We are not asking to teach a theology class in the public schools but instead allow a free flow of
thought. AFA of North Georgia applauds the School Board on their actions.

On September 26, the Board is expected to expand the science curriculum policy to include and allow classroom discussion on "intelligent design."As stated in Policy IA, Philosophy, (to review) Comments to the Cobb County Board of Education should be sent prior to the next meeting on September 26th, 2002. According to a Atlanta newspaper the ACLU and a Cobb County parent have allegedly filed a suit against the Cobb County School Board to remove the sticker. Please, show your support with an e-mail to the Cobb Board Members (see below addresses).

Special note to Georgia residents: Make plans to attend the Intelligent Design Conference in the Anderson Theater (next to Cobb Civic Center) at 2pm on Sep 15, 2002, Sunday. The program last approximately two hours. ( for directions <a href="http://www.cobbcounty.org/gis/facilities_map_sq.htm)." target="_blank">http://www.cobbcounty.org/gis/facilities_map_sq.htm).</a> This educational program will inform and entertain anyone interested in the evolution controversy - including the media, parents, students, home schoolers, science teachers, and school administrators. These sessions contain a wealth of information about various aspects of intelligent design and the controversy about how to teach and conduct origins science. for flyer to print and distribute.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated to cover the cost of the seminar and the air transportation of our speakers. We will continue to be a moral voice of Georgia concerning many issues. As my close friends know I enjoy standing in the swift water. Walk in Peace & Smile.

The bit that got me:

"Naturalism refuses to see design by definition," Harris said. "It is a philosophical approach, not a scientific approach."
That is a complete lie. Natualism can see design, and it does routinely -- when it looks at things like stone tools or murder scenes. The IDers would like to believe that there is some bias that prevents naturalistic techniques from seeing design in organisms, but there just isn't one.

Notice how they love to confuse methodical naturalism with metaphysical naturalism. Their "famous" speakers should know the difference.
