The Two Keys
A question on another list prompted me to do the following based on Mat.16.
JAMES’ CONFESSION AND THE TWO KEYS (13)When [Jesus] {John} came to the region of [Caesarea Philippi] {?}, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say [I] {the Spirit} [am] {is}?" (14)They replied, "Some say [John the Baptist; others say] {the spirit of} Elijah [; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets]." (15) “But what about you?” he asked, “Who do you say [I] {the Spirit} [am] {is}? (16)[Simon Peter] {James} answered, “[You] {The Spirit} [are] {is} [the Christ, the son of the living] {God}. (17) “[Jesus] {John} replied, “Blessed are you, [Simon] {James} son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by [my Father] {the Spirit} in heaven. (18) And I tell you that [you are Peter, and] on this [rock] {Spirit}, [I] {God} will build his church, and the [gates] {spirits} of hell will not overcome it. (19) [I] {The Spirit} [will give you] {has} the keys of [the kingdom] of heaven {and hell}; whatever [you] the Spirit [binds] {condemns} on earth will be [bound] {condemned} in [heaven] {hell}, and whatever the Spirit [looses] {purifies} on earth will be [loosed] {pure} in heaven.” (20) Then he warned the disciples not to tell anyone that [he] {the Spirit} was [Christ] {God}. That gave me a headache. Perhaps doing a split view like the old books where you read them two different ways?
