Okay....
So how the hell does *this* work. Linky and Dinky have a card trick, and I've figured out how that works, but I have no clue how this works.......

That's been here before, in slightly different presentation. Hint #1: look at the numbers that you get from the arithmetic they ask for - what do they have in common?

Hmmm......
I don't know what you are asking. Are you saying that you are only supposed to choose numbers that repeat digits, e.g. 55 or 66. I chose numbers like 73 or 96 and it worked. Hell, I tried single digit numbers, like 9 (9-9=0) and it worked.
I'm probably missing something, and making myself look stupid. Can you link to the thread you are talking about? Thanks, Kevin |

doesn't work for me the mindreading, maybe i don't have one .
but take a 2 digit number, call them a and b, your 2 digit number would then be 10*a + b. Substract a and b 10a+b-b-a=9a. So the answers is always a multiple of 9 |

lol, I also got wowed by that the first time.
I wonder if this would pass as a "miracle" for the less skeptical.. |

Any time people ask you to do mathematical calculations before making a prediction, work out the general equations ahead of time (i.e. do it for the number ab where a and b can each be any integer from zero to 9). It's always just simple algebra and usually once you do this the inner-workings of the trick become obvious.
