Well that explains it! I was told that turbulence was caused by natural events like atmospheric pressures, jet streams, mountain waves, cold or warm fronts, or thunderstorms. But now I think all those bumps are simply due to the planes running over kids in the clouds.

Magus55, have you ever heard of crimes of omission? Here's an analogy.

Let's say that you were driving, and as you were driving straight, that you hit someone.

And that you get hauled into court about it.

And that you offer the same kind of defense for your actions: that you are not at fault, because you had been driving in a straight line without having attempted to hit your victim, that it is your victim's decision to be in your way, and thus that your victim thus deserves his/her fate.

Would your case be very convincing?

The same would be true if there exists some omnipotent, omniscient entity (or entities!). That entity would be responsible for EVERYTHING that happens, by commission or by omission.

Heaven's Gate people weren't young and they killed themselves for their own religion. What makes you think they are in Heaven right now?
