they're pretty easy to pick out, they all make the same spelling errors, and they mysteriously appear to back each other up, it's bad when you have to use your other account to back yourself up because no one else will. |

I expected that sort of thing in the chat rooms I used to frequent. I never expected such a thing would go on within a Christian site. Doesn't suprize me though. A sock puppet... that could be fun!!!! (grin) However, why have one that agrees with you constantly? I'd rather mine rant, hand-wave, condemn me to hell, spout hate talk of my differences... A sock puppet to agree with ones self... (sounds like a personality disorder to me... where's my DSM?) |

Also, I know people are enjoying criticizing the moderating practices at CF on this thread, but let me say that being a moderator is a fairly thankless job. I think many of them are doing their best. I am loathe to criticize them when I have walked in their shoes. I guess what I would be critical of is the general practice of "making somone disappear" when they have been banned. That's disruptive. Also, I think they need a place where posters can publically voice their questions and concerns about the moderating practices. This can be very instructional (we have a bugs, problems, and complaints section here that serves this function). Without a place to do it over there, the only option is to try and discuss them on someone elses board (like this thread). Then you have no control over the feedback and suggestions. |

Actually I know of quite a few in apologetics. I agree about the feedback part, but I fear unless it was only Erwin reading the concerns, or the few others that can tolerate constructive criticism, it wouldn't matter. |
