Like any discovery, there are dangers when it comes to how it can be exploited for the wrong purposes. It is possible that some theists ( such as myself) want to see cloning legislated to insure that it can only be used for medical research to facilitate the production of stem cells and organs to be donated.

This to help you read my first response. Note the last sentence of this paragraph.

Sabine, cloning and gene-splicing have nothing to do with mind-control. If you don't want people to clone slaves (why wouldn't people simply breed slaves the old-fashioned way?) outlaw slaves. A (perfect) clone is just like a twin, only he/she would be more different from the parent/sibling than a twin since the birthdates are so much further apart.

Cloning and gene-splicing (and similar technologies) do have the potential to cure many many diseases.

Sabine Grant...

About erasing individuality through cloning...
I think this is a very shallow view of an individual person. I would say that the individuality and uniqueness of a person comes from his/her experiences. Just because someone walks around looking like me doesn't mean that he is a copy of me.

I signified clearly that I value the human spirit within each individuality.
But we are not born with a human spirit, we earn it through living. Metaphorically speaking, ofcourse.

As far as ethics go, cloning can be a lifesaver (litterally speaking) for people in need of new organs.
