Why does God need a plan?
People make plans to bring about some state of affairs. The plan intends to get things from state A to state B through a series of causes and effects. Step 1 - Start with state A, do X, get state A2. Step 2 - do Y, get to state A3... and so on until the last step, which gets you to state B. That's what a plan is. People need plans because it is often difficult to get to state B directly. A number of other things must be done to allow for that final step to get to B.
Now, what about an omnipotent God? If an omnipotent God wants State B, it goes like this: God wants B. B is. It's that simple. That's virtually the definition of omnipotence. Doing anything between wanting B and achieving B is completely unnecessary. Why would an omnipotent God need a plan? Jamie |

The trouble with atheists, they ask too many questions. Just do it!
Why? Because. Why? So that you could ask this question. Why? 'Cos God can do what He wants. The real answer is, of course: because God is constantly represented by [the writings of] fallible human beings. Amazing, though, that the True God we know (which is Nature) does not have a plan at all. It just flows on and evolves, and we're the products of no design. Now that is something human-written holy scriptures could never think of! |
