Another bigoted columnist attacks Newdow
Gerald Stone at the Miami News-Record:
http://www.miaminewsrecord.com/MIAMI...20&PubID=13422 ‘Under God’ probably going to be removed By Gerald Stone "At a time when we need God and religion in our lives more than ever, the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to strike down the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. It was forced upon the courts by a Sacramento atheist, Michael Newdow, who claimed he was bothered that his daughter had to “watch and listen” while a teacher leads the class in what he described as a “ritual proclaiming that there is a God.” He sued, and now the case is before the Supreme Court. This poor excuse for a human must have been off his medication for a long time. As it turns out, the man is divorced and his daughter lives with his ex-wife and they enjoy a relationship with church and God. Yet, the Supreme Court will probably hear the case sometime this year and you can expect “under God” to be taken out of the pledge. {sorry - copyrighted material removed beyond fair use} They have a message board there if you feel like saying anything: http://www.miaminewsrecord.com/MIAMI...20&PubID=13422 |

"But, the atheist-inclined liberals will probably get their way."
Why do I have to be a "liberal" in order to be an atheist? Do I go around declaring people have to be "ignorant" to be a columnist? (Although I freely admit that I go around declaring that people have to be either ignorant, mentally defecient, or deluded to be theists.) |

If the Supreme Court overturns, is there any reason to pursue it where you are? |

I suspect it will be an exercise in futility ... the deluded cannot break out of their thinking rut. |

As to "needing God and religion", that is absolute horse manure, except if one subscribes to Plato's Royal Lie view of religion, the view that the religion business is desirable as the Opium of the People. |

That entire article is a begrudging admission that "under God" is, and always has been, unconstitutional. Newdow is merely the one who took the trouble to sue and make it a matter of record. That's what he's angry about, that it will soon be a matter of record that all the lore surrounding the "under God" pledge is bunk.
How dare that atheist take away the pleasant delusion. |

I submitted my opinion to their message board http://www.miaminewsrecord.com/MIAMI...20&PubID=13422
I don't know if they will place my opinion there, so I'm placing it here: By Gerald Stone: … “This poor excuse for a human must have been off his medication for a long time. As it turns out, the man is divorced and his daughter lives with his ex-wife and they enjoy a relationship with church and God.” Yeah! Way to go Gerald Stone! You’re one step from setting Michael Newdow on fire like many were burned alive by inquisition during middle ages. Nicolas Copernicus was burned alive because he said that the Earth is round. What do you think of that Gerald Stone? Or you prefer to stone (no pun intended) Michael Newdow to death? Is it your business – the personal life of Michael Newdow? If you need god and religion – don’t say that everybody else, who has different opinion about it, is crazy. Do you want it or not – religion is going away. Less people and countries believe in religion with every passing day. Some people still need it because our civilization is still in very early stages of development. Eventually, with development of science and education, all religion believes will be replaced by knowledge. P.S. Dear Julie Key, It’s very nice that those angels were spared. Honestly, I don’t care. I care about PEOPLE who died, or injured or lost their loved ones. See the difference? Can you explain why god cares about cabinets with angels more than people? |
