Does anyone know of a reliable account on the net of the discovery and translation of this object?

The rest was "this proves god and the bible" type bullshit, or stuff about that french guy.

Simply because the history might be true, does not mean that there was some form of divine intervention. There are many records of ancient, true battles in other ancient literature that had divine assistance. Take the battle of Troy for instance. Are we to accept that from that, that Poseidon existed?
