Same. And in a few days, the ham might be just as rotten as the original!

they misquote the ARIS findings and say that 13% of the population are "atheist" - a total of 30 million people. Were that it were true. That is the number (well, close, it is actually 14.1%) of people who identified themselves as having "no religion", including atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, and even deists, animists, etc. But I'll take the larger number if it gets the attention of politicians. 30 million voters is nothing to sneeze at....
I just read in my local paper on Saturday, that in my local metro area only 51% of the people, "consider themselves affiliated with a religious group." The article goes on to say that this, "was slightly above the median," nationally!
My first reaction was one of elation, but that quickly faded when I thought about it and realized that there are lots of folks who attend non-denominational churches, and would be lumped in with the 49% who didn't consider themselves affiliated with a religious group. I'm sure there are those that have religious feelings but are just fed up with organized religion.

I know my turn to atheism originally began with a distaste for organized religion. I actually still believe that religion is a highly personal thing and think that worldwide or even national churches are just plain wrong. You can find extremes in beliefs even in just the same congregation. The nearest correlation I can make is to political parties: there are millions of Republicans (for example), but there's a huge difference between the Religious Right and liberal Republicans!
