Offa; The most correct answer is "nobody knows". I say that John was written shortly after 33 CE and Jesus that he wrote John. This conjecture has to be as accurate as "nobody knows".
Where in the bible does it say that a "virgin" has never copulated? They call me Mr. Offa without checking to see if I am endowed as such. The point is, a Virgin is not a virgin and that Ms. Mary had at least 7 children. When you have time, find out for me where it says in the bible that "Jesus feet were pierced". After all, he was walking shortly after the crucifixion and I cannot picture a man having nails driven through his feet and then walking around in 72 hours. What is written is politically correct, you just have to be aware of the loop-holes. |

I never thought I'd ever say this but thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been busting a gut trying to find the missing number in the Bible, i.e 72, to link it with Hamlets Mill and you have just pointed it out to me, 3 days and nights, Jonah and Jesus! Cheers. Amen-Moses |

Offa; Amen-Moses, I am flattered. I enjoy reading what you write. BTW, I did not want to write 3 days in lieu of 72 hours because 3 days can mean 3 years in Jubilee time. You have to be wary of time schemes.

Based on my reading of the canonical gospel story, it appears that Christ had the nails put in his feet [or, was put on the cross] around noon on the day before the sabbath and that Christ was out and about by six A.M. on the day after the sabbath. That translates into about 42 hours, not 72 hours. I guess that old Douglas Adams was on to something!

Offa;
Where does it say, anywhere in the bible, that his feet were pierced. Hey Peter, fess up! You can not find it anywhere ... you must be one of those "biblical scholars". |

I do not claim that the four canonical gospels state explicitly that "his feet were pierced," and I edited my post to make it clear that I do not claim such. Theoretically Jesus could have been tied to the cross. I was pointing out that my reading of the story indicates a shorter period of 72 hours from cross to resurrection.

Offa; My point is that we have a billion or so crucifixes hanging on Christian walls showing pierced feet. The bible implies otherwise - Doubting Thomas felt a hole in the side and pierced hands while seeing his hands and feet. Josephus writes about the 3 days later and that was what I was referencing (unknown to readers). The Gospel of Peter says the nails were removed from his hands and not both his hands and feet. You, sir, cannot find anywhere in the Bible where his feet were pierced. Also, Mary had seven children and her husband's name was Clophas and when he put his robe on he was St. Joseph the Holy Spirit thus Mary never knew a man.
