You, and they believe that Jesus was wrong, and James was wrong. Jesus forgot to say that he was kidding in the Sermon on the Mount, and he didn't mean that you had to do that stuff literally, just have faith in him, and you can ignore what he told you to do. You are justified by faith. You don't have to treat every other person on the planet as you do him. Even though Jesus said you must. You do not have to pray quietly in a closet. Jesus was kidding. Instead of tending to his sheep, he would rather ya build the crystal cathedral with your extra money. Instead of giving your cloak and your coat to the begger as Jesus said, listen to Paul. You are justified by faith. Jesus really wanted you to have a jacuzzi, and a Humvee instead of using any money that wasn't necessary to care for the poor, the sick, the aged. Just say out loud that "I believe in Jeebus" like Paul tells ya to do, and everything Jesus said in the flesh doesn't apply to you. You are shocked that Paul won? Well, you have a choice. You have to struggle, sacrifice, give away conforts, give of yourself to others, feel love for those who have fallen very far like Jesus said, or.... you can just click your heels three times and say "There is no place like Heaven". Funny how people liked Paul's idea better. |

It is? Well, it seems to have missed me. I believe without evidence. Quote:
But I do. Howzat? Quote:
Life after death is supernatural, and as such, there never will be evidence for it. That doesn't make it any the less real. Please don't bring disproofs of life after death (such as neuroscience etc) before me now. I'm not willing to debate the subject of life after death. You'll be wasting your time, and I'll just be ignoring every word. My fixed, unassailable dogma is that there is life after death, and I'm not budging because of any evidence to the contrary. |

Faith will save you.
But I would say that good decent human behaviour, regardless of faith, will also save you. Faith is a mind job, and is good for those who work through their minds. Work is a body job, is good for those who work through the body. There are those who combine them. There are those who don't believe and do good to others. No matter your path, Love is the foundation key and goal. The Kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21) God is Love John 4:7-8 DD - Love & Laughter |

Oh shut up about Jesus. If anyone REALLY knew about Jesus, they wouldn't argue about him. Is that a fair assessment?

Could somebody tell me why Calvin came up with the "faith only" bit, after the Catholics said "Faith and works"?
I know he was mad about the legalized bribery of the church, called indulgences, but what caused the "faith only" business? Hey if you want ancient religion, try Zoroastrianism. It is even older than Hinduism and is the state promoted religion of Iran. The Shah promoted Zoroastrianism as a cultural pride thing because of its antiquity. |
