Good News Club invades Los Angeles Public Schools
Good News Club (requires free registration)
Not only is this Christian group meeting on school property, but they have somehow persuaded a federal judge that they should be exempt from paying the normal clean up fees that other non-school groups pay.(!) The school district is appealing that ruling. (I think it's called bootstrapping. First they argued that they deserved equal access with other groups. Then they somehow turned this into a right to use the facilities for free.) |

FYI, this is the "Suckers for Christ" outfit, i.e. give a child a lollipop if they'll accept Jesus as their savior. Pretty lowdown stuff. [ November 20, 2002: Message edited by: Grumpy ]
|

Imagine the outrage if Muslims were to do something similar, either in like manner to the "Good News Club," or handing out small editions of the Koran! Ooooo. Actually, this sort of behavior goes against Christian scripture as well: "Saint" Paul wrote that Christians are supposed to obey the laws of whatever nation they find themselves in. I guess that portion of the "holy bible" is deliberately overlooked, rationalized, or ignored...which is hypocrisy. What part of SEPARATION of church from state do these conniving weasels not understand? --Cindy http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ageofvoltaire [click this link to view the homepage of my mailing list] Subscribe: ageofvoltaire-subscribe@yahoogroups.com |

I think we need to collect donations and ask a school to allow us to distribute Russel's Why I am not a Christian or similar book as long as the Gideons are allowed to distribute theirs. If we are denied, then it is clear sign of bias and establishment. However, if they accept, fundy outrage might cause them to stop the policy entirely.
