Default Martin Luther movie, ingeniously titled "Luther" (trailer link included)

Here's the link:

I wonder if the director is a Lutheran...

I bet half the people go expecting a Superman movie.

Rebel, Genius, only slightly better than the Catholic church at the time.

I watched the trailer. They are glorifying that raving antisemite! Argh!

If the movie is anything like the trailer then I guess its an action movie. Martin Luther, the first action hero.

One has to give him credit for being the first successful heretic in many centuries. Earlier heretical movements had been ruthlessly suppressed, but attempts to suppress his Reformation resulted in a draw, despite some very bloody Wars of Religion like the Thirty Years War.

Here is a short biography of him.

There was also a political aspect of the Reformation; a lot of leaders did not want to be subject to the Pope.

Hopefully the film includes his anti-semitic ravings, especially his tracks that called for the razing of jewish villages throughout europe. Isn't that what people want anyway, mindless death and destruction.

Watched the trailer. I think I'll wait for Luther: Reloaded and Luther: Revolutions before making up my mind.
