Question

Quote:
But the Pope already did such a thing!
He did?

If so, where's the evidence?

I think that was a statement on the amount of records proving miracles beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Thumbs down

Click <a href="http://opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/" target="_blank">here</a> for Peggy Noonan's take on all of this.

It's a shame that such a good writer has to be so superstitious.

"By adding these mysteries he is saying, 'This is another invitation to look closely at the life of Christ - to contemplate and meditate.' "

"To think," I offered.

"No, not to think. ...."

What was Christ thinking about that night in Gethsemane? That is the first of the sorrowful mysteries. I start to think and then . . . Maybe he knew that in spite of the pain he was about to be subjected to, in spite of his self-sacrifice, the world was going to continue to be a miserable place. Maybe the evil one sneaked into his mind and showed him a film of the future--Thomas More being put to death as a Christian by Christians for the sake of Christianity, Edmund Campion and John Fisher the same. The Inquisition, the Holocaust, cardinals of the church who would be incapable of compassion for the families of children sexually abused by priests. Maybe all of that is what made him sweat blood.
So let me get this straight...the omnipotent god/man Jesus (who, as you might recall, created the entire universe) can only see the horrors of the future if the "evil one" (whom Jesus also created) shows him?

Let's not forget that this is the same "omnipotent" being who lost track of Adam while walking in the Garden of Eden.

<a href="http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/10/18/church.abuse/index.html" target="_blank">On a almost related note.</a>

The "church" nixed the American bishops' proposal because it conflicted with "universal" church law.

"The Vatican objected to the resolution's lack of an appeal process, as required by church law, its elimination of a statute of limitations and the provision requiring that accusations be turned over to police immediately."

Yes, he already gave out all evidence that exists.
