Hi Aaron, (Arrogancy) I like you nick, it fits you well.
nice of you to drop in, be seeing you in general religious discussions, here. It's an amusing little discussion starter you may find interesting. In fact it kind of looks like a theistic tar baby to me.

As for your point here, folks make up your own minds as to the accuracy of the satire in "Bob," VS what Aaron has to say. I let you be the judge. Aaron, I see BMLH chickened out, something about his head hurting. I can understand his reluctance to come here, it's not nearly as comfortable as RT is for him.

Actually, the Story of Bob does not mirror the God of The Bible. It combines random philosophical ideals of a God, the "pagan" doctrines that were absorbed into the Constantine era Church of "eternal fire" and omniscience, and blatant errors and mistakes as pointed out earlier by myself and others.

In other words, The Story of Bob creates its own God to mock, instead of using the documented God of the Bible as a target. Because of the fact that it fails in mocking the God of the Bible, the later points about religion are irrelevant. The crux of the satire is errant, so the whole satire falls apart.

This was pointed out in detail here: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/forum/...hreadid=194615 when David went on his copy/paste spree at Rotten Tomatoes. The only defense that could be come up with when the errors in comparison were pointed out, point by point were "it's a satire, so it doesn't matter."
Arron has his view, and DP has his, which differs. As for the quote Aaron used of Jobars, here is the full quote, which makes pretty clear that Jobar thought DP did a pretty good job of hoisting god on the petard of religious dogma.

When David first posted his tale of Bob here, I seriously considered moving it to the Humor forum. It is in fact a satire, and while it is a lampoon of the Christian (or Abrahamic) God I thought it a bit frivolous for EoG. I am involved in the worship of the Invisible Pink Unicorn, but I try to keep that largely separate from my contributions here.

However, on reflection I decided that its effectiveness as a satire earned it a place here. By the very fact that David traced the Biblical God so closely, he makes a powerful argument against Him- after reading the tale of Bob, IMO anyone who can read the Bible without a giggle is either humorless, blind, or brainwashed, or a combination of all three. Like Voltaire, David gives us philosophy with a liberal admixture of humor.

And David, if you actually got a fatwa issued against you, you would become a martyr for us atheists! What an honor!

It's interesting that Aaron and his buds over on RT have not been able to post much here. Perhaps the discourse is a little too difficult for them to handle.

Praise Bob! I believe in the Bob, and in his only son, Chris...
Hear Oh Risearl, the Lord our Bob, the Lord is One!
There is no Bob but Bob, and Moumma is his prophet!

Hey, David, how about a little bit about that more recent and important clan, the Morons? They are really scary and weird.

I think I've heard of the Mornons. They're named after the Moronic angel who gave the magical sunglasses to Samuel Jones so he could read the platinum dishes and write the book of Mornon.

I was wondering where that book came from.

It kinda reminds me of that other story...

So... this guy is a HUGE Brigitte Bardot fan, right. Well; his lady goes to the tatoo parlour to have Brigittes initials put on her ass. One B on each buttcheek.

The woman goes home to surprise her hubby, bends over, drops her panties and says: "there you go hon; do you like it?"

All the husband says is: "Bob? Who the fuck is Bob?"

Great story, David. The responses from the theists on this thread are proof enough for me how accurate the parody truly is.

My only suggestion would be capitalizing the name as "boB". Not sure why, it just reads more omnipotent that way.
