Why, just think of all the denomination names we'd have by now! Bobbies, and bobolinks, and bobbysoxers, and bobbleheads, and plumbbobs- why, the list would be endless! And this, of course, would be the 'Existence of Bob(s)' forum.

David, I'm sure that you know about J.R. 'Bob' Dobbs, the Saviour/Saint of the Church of the Subgenius. If you haven't just plug Subgenius into any search engine- good fun.

Hey Jobar, I had heard of the church of Bob before, but the reason I picked that name was for the last sentence. Though I have found out from Dargo over in the Misc. religion discussions that I am dammed for mocking Bob and his church. The horror, the horror. (Oh wait, that was from Apocalypse Now, sorry Marlon.)

Also Ohio_Infidel just found a leaflet under his car window, from the church of Chris!

What have I done! Doomed to be cursed by Bob, and I started a new religion to boot. And where are all the righteous religious types, hiding? Perhaps peekingduck has it right.

I posted the short version of Bob that I had sent to Newsweek on this site below, as well as a link to the full version published here. The site belongs to our Arab brothers in the struggle against the oppression that God and religion bring humanity.

David,

Your story reveals that you know very little about God, the Bible, and Christianity. It seems as though you have culled all your information about these subjects from reading the mockery here at Internet Infidels, which is not a particularly objective or accurate source of information about such topics. It would appear that you need to read some of the arguments presented by the "other" side, namely Christians.

Your "story" has so many misrepresentations and false assumptions and conclusions that I wouldn't know where to begin in correcting them. You present Christians as having no real or valid evidence for the existence of God, for example. And you present the God that they believe in as being an obviously inconsistent and cruel Being. And you present the evils done in the name of Christianity as being the responsibility of true Christians, or at least as things validly derivable from the Bible. All misrepresentations, at best.

In Christ,

Douglas

Gee Douglas, in Acts 5:1 to 5:10 we find Saint Peter murdering a married couple, Ananias and three hours later his wife Sapphira. Seems that they sold some property they owned and gave the money from it to the Christian church. But they kept some of what they got from the sale to cover their own needs. The NT doesn't say how Peter did them in, it implies death by magic. Same crime all those witches were burned alive for. Of course Peter is the "live by the sword" guy so he might have stabbed them when they didn't fork over all their dough.
So is Saint Peter, the gate keeper of heaven, a true Christian or not. Your standards seem to say he isn't. Are you more saintly than he?

David Payne

Would you explain why the Who were moneylenders before the birth of Chris?

Apart from your overt antiSemitism I liked your essay
