I thought the Christian cross was also influenced from the Egyptian cross (ankh)-- the symbol of life from the sun.

This was originally copied from newadvent.org, an official Catholic site, although it is greatly shortened, and leaves out the discussion of the ankh.
Again, what is your point? A non-believer would look at all of the pre-Christian examples of religious uses of crosses, and see Christianity as a mere knock-off. Early Christians saw these pagan antecedents as diabolical mimicry in anticipation of the true faith, an attempt to deceive the faithful. A more modern Catholic believer would see this as other religions' striving towards the true faith, or some such rationalization. So are you the person behind "immadison" or are you susan172992? Are you having trouble getting a conversation started on that yahoogroup? What do you think about all of this? WHY are you posting here? |
