Contradictions.
In Rhea’s wonderful thread: Free Will - Where Does it End? I made a comment about a Christians’ necessarily contradictory beliefs,” to which Radorth responded “Huh? Examples please.”
I produced a list of sorts but it was far from comprehensive, and I wondered if other infidels would be kind enough to post here their own favourites - for future reference? |

That Jesus is the son of God born to a virgin, and also descended from King David through his father, Joseph.
That Jesus was crucified on Friday and resurrected on Sunday, three days later. No, wait, that's only two days. But this part of the Bible says three days. But that part says two ... |

That over all other human assertions for a god or gods, Christianity is the ONE TRUE WAY. Says who?
That over all other sacred texts (sacred to who?), the bible is the ONE TRUE BOOK. Says who? Edited to add: I guess those aren't really contradictions, are they? But they still bother me nonetheless. |

Yes, some good examples so far...
A big one for me, is the willingness of Christians to believe one particular set of ancient stories about a resurrection, claiming this is proof of Jesus' divinity, while not believing any one of many other ancient resurrection stories. Call it a presupposition, call it a contradiction, call it a double standard, what have you. It is preferential belief in one ancient myth while excluding other ancient myths. -Kelly |

I thought of this, after compiling my list:
A loving god, omniscient and omnipotent (we don’t know about omnivorous) which nevertheless permits human beings, whether god-fearing or not, to suffer from pernicious viruses and germs - presumably of his creation - and famines, draughts, earthquakes, volcanoes, storms and wars. And I’ve just thought: A loving god which chose the Jews and throughout most, if not all of their history so far, has punished them for being disobedient. |

That the christian god is morally right for damning people for eternity for not believing in christianity, when he cannot make christianity even 2% more convincing than the thousands of other religions out there. It isn't atheists who are filling hell up, it's all the good, noble, faithful people who adhere to other religions.

That God is ALL-anything and yet "must" do something.
