Question Reincarnation

To me the idea of Reincarnation doesn't seem quite as loopy as some other after death scenarios.
Hey, fact; we all popped into existence from nothing at least once (now) I see no reason why it couldn't happen again in the future, or for that matter long ago. What do you think?

What I am is encapsulated in "my" life. Some mysterious life force within me that manifests itself in some other being after I die would not be "me."

I still think it's pretty loopy...

In order for a new existence to be "us", wouldn't we have to have exactly the same genetic makeup?

It’s only as loopy as requiring a soul-thing … yup that’s pretty loopy, right up there with the IPU unfortunately. Atheism is so soul-less.

Personally I think the timeless eternity makes most sense to me, or nothing at all of course.

Aside, definition of reintarnation : being reborn as a hillbilly

Cool

Reincarnation is just another one those human ideas invented to provide some comfort in facing death. No evidence for it, or any other kind of afterlife. You die, the show's over.

That's precisely why Buddhism says that we transmigrate yet don't have a "self".

Then the Buddhist cannot say "we" transmigrate.

Not really, Jane would be gone, you’d be someone else with no memories of Jane. (If indeed that is your real name)

What’s so comforting about having to go through all this crap again?

“No evidence for it, or any other kind of afterlife. You die, the show's over. “

Actually there is no evidence for this either, how could there be?

Well, then you first define what 'soul' is.

That to which the persona is attached?

Our persona is an illusion and when it raptures (by way of realization) that which remains is in heaven.
