Default Joe Lieberman and the End Time Christians

No, its not a new rock band.

Lieberman asks End Time Christian Group to remove his picture from their fund raising appeals

Quote:
Appearing amid stars of the Christian right like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, Lieberman endorses the group, which was asking evangelical Christians to donate money to "rescue a Jew" by sending Russian Jews to Israel. The pitch was to fulfill "Biblical prophecy," which the right-wing Christian audience understands as bringing about Armageddon, the Second Coming of Christ, and the moment when nonbelievers (including Jews) sign up with Jesus or meet the instant fate of a Spinal Tap drummer. . . .

While he was unaware of the infomercial, Sen. Lieberman did work actively with the fellowship from 1994 to 1999, one of his many alliances with right-wingers designed to build his national profile.

Now that that strategy has catapulted Lieberman to the front of the pack of presidential contenders, and he must appeal to more moderate and liberal Democratic voters, the video may be only the first of a string of embarrassing ties that return to haunt him.

What about those End Times, Mr. President? Sen. Joe Lieberman announces his candidacy, but not his association with lunatic fringe of Biblical prophecy

Quote:
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein founded IFCJ in 1983, soon after his ordination at New York's Yeshiva University. Its mission, according to its website, is "to foster better relations and understanding between Christians and Jews ... and help build support for Israel and Jews in crises or need."The group toiled in obscurity for its first decade. Then in 1994, Eckstein shifted focus, appearing on Pat Robertson's 700 Club to pitch Christians. Robertson's flock responded generously; IFCJ's budget thereafter ballooned from about $500,000 to, last year, $27.5 million. Eckstein boasts that his organization has "saved" more than 200,000 Jews from Russia.

. . .

"I have a concern that Senator Lieberman know the context in which these activities are taking place," says Gaddy of the Interfaith Alliance. "I would say to him precisely what I said to President Bush in a letter to him -- that Americans have a right to know that U.S. foreign policy is not being shaped by just one interpretation of biblical prophesy."

Rabbi Eckstein is separating Christians from their money to finance Russian Jews to move to Israel and vote for hard-line politicians like Sharon.
