Default "Beyond Probability"?

Has anybody ever seen this paper here? Any mathematicians? I am unable to evaluate this paper and don't know what to make of it.

Thanks

Thumbs down

I was able to see the page after I typed your url directly into my browser. You need to put a space in between your name and the url in the post, I think.

I didn't read the paper in detail after the first few paragraphs, because that was enough to see that it is junk. The author of the long quote at the beginning has no real concept of what science is or what the scientific method entails.

I then skimmed the main body. It looks, to me, no different than the number games that people have been playing with the bible for years. The techniques are simply applied to the Quran instead. The same games can be played with any reasonably long book. In other words, its nothing more than the solid waste product of a male bovine.

This is basically the same stuff Michael Drosnin puts out : "bible code".

From The Skeptic's Dictionary :

Quote:
Michael Drosnin and admirers of his popular book, The Bible Code, are claiming that decoding the Bible allegedly leads to the discovery of prophecies and profound truths of a secular nature, not all of which are related to the Jews. Drosnin claims that the Bible is the only text in which these encoded phrases are found in a statistically significant pattern, and that the chance of this being a random phenomenon is unlikely. Using the ELS method, Drosnin claims that the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin was foretold in the Bible. He also claims that the assassinations of Anwar Sadat and the Kennedy brothers are encoded in Biblical ELS. At last, someone has found a truly useful purpose for computers: doing ELS analyses of Biblical texts in search of hidden messages of a secular nature. The Lord loveth a puzzle.
I realize this isn't the exact same thing being done on the page provided by TheDiddleyMan. But the premise is the same. It's gematria, which you can very well apply to Mody Dick, H.P. Lovecraft or Penthouse Forum.

There's a reason it works with HP Lovecraft stuff...
