How amazing !

because I can cite a couple of medical studies that show that certain Europeans provide healthcare every bit as good as USA healthcare --- and subsidise it to poorer citizens at a lower overall percentage of GDP than the USA can, in other words, do just as good a job at lower a cost to society --- and cover everyone who lives there, regardless of income level, a job that the USA is useless at managing.

Now, why don't you come up with some valid scientific/medical information to back up your amazing claims, while I go dig up the studies I'm speaking of to prove you wrong ?

Gurdur! Back from nobbing the aphids and being chased by their jealous husbands, are we?

I think you'll find that Laci is the King/Queen of spurious and unqualified assertions. Your request is akin to asking that George Bush say "Floccinoccihillinillipillification" five times in rapid successon

Canada isn't utopia by any means, but it's record speaks for itself.

Gurdur,

Please post ALL the information you come up with. I'd love to read it. If you come up with "too much for the board" pm the rest to me!

It's nowhere near that bad. The uninsured numbers are around 40 million--out of a total of 7 times this. Furthermore, that number is already a bit of a fraud--it's counting the number that were uninsured at any time during the year, not the average number uninsured. Many of those are short-term between-job situations.
Furthermore, it includes those on Medicaid.

While the problem is very real the doomsayers make it look much worse than it actually is.

Indeed. It's already started out west:

British Columbia OKs same-sex marriages

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

TORONTO -- British Columbia became the second Canadian province to allow same-sex marriage under a court ruling Tuesday, and two men were wed shortly afterward in Vancouver.

[...]

"It is also apparent that any further delay in implementing the remedies will result in an unequal application of the law between Ontario and British Columbia," the decision said.

Love this quote from the original article:

"We look at you Americans and see the [National Rifle Association], rigged elections, Christian fundamentalists, and pre-emptive wars," says Michael Adams, author of the best-selling "Fire and Ice: The United States, Canada and the Myth of Converging Values." By contrast, Canada is a place that prizes "peace, order, and good government." It's "a social welfare state where we raise taxes to pay for transit, housing, and more," he says.

If it's 1/2 the price, it's probably not a bargain.

:boohoo:
It's a lot less than 1/2 the price, if my assumptions on US medical care costs are correct.

I grew up in BC with an ear condition that had me in and out of hospital many times a year for much of my childhood. I always had excellent care and never had to wait.

I don't see hordes of people trying to get into Canada.
Anyone who wants to live there for all the above reasons,
be our guest! Just shut the door behind you.

Our immigration rates are currently twice that of the US actually.
