Back in 1985, there was a force 5 hurricane that the weather service said was going to have a landfall in the middle of Virginia Beach (Pat Robertson’s hometown). Most of Va Beach was evacuated, and everyone expected lots of storm damage.

When the eye was about 50 miles off shore, it suddenly veered north, eventually making a landfall in Long Island at Force 3. The next day, Pat Robertson announced that he had interceded with gawd to turn the hurricane.
