"God forgets the past"???
So I drove past this church yesterday.
The message on sign out front (all churches seem to have message signs these days) said: "God forgets the past. Strive to be like Him." Okay. I do understand what they are trying to say, and within the unspoken context, it's a good message. BUT... What about all that Old Testament stuff where God punishes a man's family down to the third and fourth generations? What about original sin? To me, God seems to dwell an awful lot in the past. I don't know. It just seemed like one of those cases where people were attributing some ideal to God for which there is little or no basis in their actual religious teachings. They just like it better that way. Jamie |

Maybe they meant "forgive" instead of "forget" - If they were referring to the verse where Jesus says you must forgive seven times seven times seven (and so on) then that would make sense.
But you're right, God doesn't seem very forgetful. |

ROFLMAO, that's what I was thinking!
"What did these people do now, that they feel compelled to tell us that forgetfulness is next to Godliness?" |

Missionaries have always told me to "forget the past."
Hmm...God seems to forget what he himself says, if we're to assume what fundies say that the Bible is his word. Perhaps that's what they mean. |
