Ex-Creationist Scientists
One fundie needs names and field of science of former creationists. How else could one believe that a creationist would step away from the Truth. I think that there must be some, but who?

Didn't that guy Denton (the one who wrote a book, I think it was "a theory in crisis") eventually accept evolution?

I don't know if it counts for a whole step away from creationism, and I don't know if he's still a creationist or not, but Gerald Aardsma of the ICR had an issue about the age of the earth with his organisation. The ICR says the earth is from 6000 to 10,000 years old, and Aardsma was led, due to his observation of tree-ring data, to conclude that the earth is at least 12,000 years old. Due to observation of data, and never mind what the Bible clearly says - I regard this as an important step towards recognising evolution.

Dr. Roger C. Wiens is an other example. Although, he is now more of an Old Earth creationist.

I didn't know Roger had been a young earth type. I find it hard to believe. (I've met him a few times and know his work.)

AndresDeLaHoz:
As far as I know, Denton never was a young-earth creationist (at least when he wrote books critical of evolution) (also see the rest of my post) Quote:
At icr.org's Dr. John's Q&A's, part of John's answer to How Old is the Earth According to the Bible? is "...most likely close to 6000 years..." Answers In Genesis has in its list of arguments which should definitely not be used [emphasis theirs]: Quote:

BTW, I don't know about any ex-creationist scientists. Apparently many people studying science at universities give up their young earth beliefs... I did. If they do that then they are ex-creationists before they even become fully qualified scientists. |
