Why is it that online creationists think they are knowledgable enough to critic evolutionary biology, etc. and yet almost always have never actually read any of the scientists they are attacking and are unfamiliar with their positions?

Because they have GOD'S INFALLABLE WORD to tell them the TRUTH. Hence, anything that contradicts that TRUTH is obviously false.

Or was that a rhetorical question?

Yes I really hate this, since every body and their dead uncle seems to consider themselves an expert on evolution. We never see laymen try to design skyscrapers or engineers explain chemistry to chemists? What is it about evolutionary biology? This really pisses me off.
