You're taking those scriptures out of context! <apologist mode off> |

Isaiah was NOT a false prophet because Jesus supported the truth and witness of the prophets. In fact, Jesus told Luke and his other disciples the following: Luke 24:44-45, "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures." Italics compliments of the KJV. Cheers, Clarice |

So Isaiah was wrong, but he was right because Jesus said so! That makes so much sense now! Thanks. You're welcome. What's more, Isaiah predicted Jesus as suffering servant, and hey, Mark referred to Jesus as suffering servant echoing back to Isaiah! See? The book of Isaiah is full of Jesus. Take Isaiah 9:6, for example: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Notice especially, "The mighty God, The everlasting Father." In the context of 9:6 this means that Jesus is God. See also Isaiah 52 and 53. All predictions of Jesus who fulfilled the message of the prophet Isaiah. Well, Butters wanted Christian apologetics. Best, Clarice |

Allright! Thanks Clarice, at least that was something...but.
Jesus could not be the Messiah, because his appearance was fortold by a false prophet, right? |

No, didn't you hear? Jesus said Isaiah wasn't a false prophet, and Jesus is the truth-speaking Messiah because Isaiah said so, therefore Isaiah's prediction is correct. (Ow!)
Besides, don't you agree with this prophecy-- "the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful..." That just totally applies to Jesus, right? He had Pilate in the palm of his hand! And weren't all those people at his trial calling him "Wonderful"? How could you call Isaiah a "false prophet" after that spot-on prediction? Clarice, I'm just trying to get clarification:

You said earlier that "Isaiah was NOT a false prophet because Jesus supported the truth and witness of the prophets." Does that mean Jesus thought Isaiah's prophecy about Ahaz was right? [ November 07, 2002: Message edited by: David Bowden ]</p> |

Hi David and All,
This is an interesting thread and I want to get back to it this weekend. Gotta work until Sunday. My job is ruining my life. Quote:
