These people don't believe because of "empirical evidence," but because they have faith in the bible. Half of those sites have "bible" on the URL, and I'm sure the others sites are Christian too. Empirical evidence, which uses reason to sort out nonsense, does not point to dinosaur-human coexistance, but a separation of millions and millions of years. If they wish to dispute that, they can present their "evidence" to scientists who will review it. If they don't wish to do that, then it is their own fault.
But I'm sure these people would disagree with me about this. They always whine and moan that scientists simply throw out whatever they disagree with, and keep anything they agree with. But this is demonstratably false. Although scientists may be skeptical at first to an idea, if they can't falsify it, it will be accepted. Even if they don't like it. Darwin, Copernicus, Galileo, and a host of others convinced scientists that their ideas were right, even with mountains of people (but not evidence) against them. If you can't convince scientists, it is probably because your idea is false, not because scientists are biased. So they need to get off their persecution complex. And that is that. - Prince Ashitaka - [ January 12, 2002: Message edited by: Prince Ashitaka ]</p> |
