the sad thing is that it is so hard to tell an outrageous parody from a real fundy site.

Thanks for bringing this up. This has got to be one of the funniest parody sites I've ever seen. It rivals The Onion, IMO.

Check out the "4 Kidz" cartoons, particulary Mr Gruff, the goat atheist and Habu the Hindu elephant.

And the member's page has captured the blank affect of the believers perfectly.

There is only one way to tell. Send it off to some fundie site for critical, peer-review. Anybody at Christianforums or baptist board want to try it out?

Check out Kangaroos of the Middle East, which includes a link to an apparently "legitimate" biblical dictionary for the definition of the word "asswage".

I think this might be legit.

and as for the christian music, that's......

depressingly normal (and sickening)

keep in mind that these are the same minds (more or less) that thought up that HORRIBLE comic strip that I will not name.

And, if they were a parody, they wouldn't be trying to shutdown landover baptist.

It is a parody, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was created by the people who run Landover Baptist.

Look at their letters page. And I'll bet that if you moused around the site enough, you would find some teeny tiny print or a small link stating it *is* parody. (Though I admit I haven't found it yet!)

The kangaroo page is wunnerful! With a lesson in "Aborigonese," even! The last paragraph:
Quote:
However, evidence of the kangaroo's migration through Europe can be found in the reports of satyrs. Satyrs, which many believe to have been strictly demonic in origin due to their goat like features, were actually a conflation of demons and kangaroos by the ignorant Pagan natives of Greece. The features of satyrs - two-legged, upright stance with elongated metatarsi; hirsuteness; a tail; long, pointed ears or horns; long or bearded face - closely coincide with the general kangaroo body form. The more goat-like features - such as cloven feet - attributed to satyrs were no doubt due to confusion in the wine-addled minds of Dionysian cultists between kangaroos and the demons that the cultists consorted with, which manifested in goatish forms.
Whoever is behind the whole site is a friggin' genius!

I hope this site is a spoof. I mean, the moon speaks Aramaic???

Quote:
The core of the moon is essentially a large crystal of metallic iron. When it is struck by meteorites (or moon landers) it will reverberate for a period of time - depending on the strength of the impact - much as a tuning fork does. The reason we do not hear the moon reverberating in the sky is that sound waves do not propagate through the vacuum of space that is between the moon and earth. However, in 1969, Apollo astronauts placed seismic devices on the moon's surface to measure the reverberations directly. These devices recorded the impacts of meteorites as expected, but they also picked up a strange, persistent, low-frequency waveform. When the waveform was run through audio processing computers which sped it up and applied various filters to it, it was discovered to be an echoing voice. The voice was speaking in ancient Aramaic!

NASA has refused to release these recordings to the public (for the obvious reason that it contradicts their evolutionistic position) and the details of what the voice was actually saying have not been uncovered directly. We know it was something in Aramaic since at the time NASA had brought in linguists to try and decipher it, and after a week all but the one who knew the ancient tongue were allowed to return home. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what this voice truly represents: The core of the moon still reverberates with the Lord's words from the day when He created the Heavens.

I am now convinced after looking around a bit more. At the very least the names are all pseudonyms.

But it is not a parody since it is unethically trying to sell merchandise to the fundamentalists.

This can do more harm that good. It just going to give the AiG people ammo: those evilutionists make fake creationist sites in order to make the Christians seem really stupid. And AiG would be right in pointing out that is extremely unethical. Furthermore it will just spread false information that will make the fundamentalist fans that much more rabid.

But if this is nothing less than an attempt to sell stuff the the fundies than I don't think they care. I don't see any requests for money (hey that might have been a sign in and of itself) and lucky for them since if they really asked for money they would be risking prison time for fraud.

--------

I noted that Science Fair article

Quote:
"Thermodynamics Of Hell Fire" - Tom Williamson (grade 12)
This is, of course, a reference to an old gag piece.

-------------

A serious question:

Is http://crossspot.com/ legit?

If it is, then I am sure they would not like that site on their server.
