UFO's exist. It is a long established fact accepted by every government on earth, and has never at any time been in dispute.

Well, this is obviously a UFO. It is unidentified, and it is flying. And it will remain a UFO until it is identified, which has not happened.
So, would you like to offer any sort of identification? Do you have any evidence to support this supposition? Or are you just indulging in flights of fantasy? |

Anyone watch the video? It looks a lot like a hoax to me; the UFO flying by just doesn't look real. Notice how it seems to appear out of nowhere before it passes by, and that after the shot pans up, the UFO is no longer clear and it looks like it could be a jet fighter doing a loop. Also, if this happened right over New York City, surely a *lot* of people would have noticed. Basically, the saucer looks computer edited. I've seen this kind of computer-UFO's before. Of course, I don't believe in flying saucers (visiting Earth, that is; I believe aliens exist somewhere), so I am biased towards hoaxing. Does it look fake to anyone else?
Update: I'm watching it again... fake as all hell. [ November 25, 2002: Message edited by: Hypernovean ]</p> |

Well, there's a big difference between believing in UFOs and believing that they are vehicles filled with little green men.
The whole point about UFOs is that nobody knows what they are anyway. The alien vehicle idea is just one theory, but seeing a UFO doesn't mean you've just seen a spacecraft. If you knew what it was, it wouldn't be a UFO. Maybe it'd just be a FO |

Here is my response to the UFo thread that BM opened in misc. disc
------------------------------------------- and the final damnation is this from the website Quote:
Also another thing, this event occured in broad daylight right above NYC and we haven't heard one squat from the media about the UFO? Only three people in the heliocopter saw it and like 4 people out of 7 million in the city saw the thing? Oh come on, contrary to what we may belive about the new yorkers, they aren't that *oblivious*. Plus what about the occupants in the towers, you want us to belive that a UFO buzzed the tower and nobody on the floors saw it? |

(originally from the thread in MiscDisc)
Some nice computer effects but there are a few telltail signs. The UFO wobbles slightly out of synch with the camera shake, going through frame by frame this becomes more apparent. The UFO's motion blur occasionally overlaps the outline of the tower, this would only happen if the image of the UFO was superimposed onto the original footage. The movement of the camera seems rehearsed. The cameraman zooms in immediately to the exact spot where the UFO is (also note that the woman is not actually pointing directly at it but somewhere above). Also, how good would the guy's reflexes have to be to pan up to exactly where the UFO had gone in the space of only a few frames? |
