Raelians just as whacky as Xians
I was a bit dissapointed when I heard that the first cloned baby came from a group to have a whacky faith.
The Raelians are making claims about human life that is whacky to the world. The media bashed the faith like I have never seen before. Christianity is a faith that makes equal whacky claims about human life, why are the Raelians being bashed for their faith? It actually hold more water that the fairy tale of Jesus and God. |

I have maintained on this board, and have had many disagree, that Chrisitianity is at its base intolerant. The reaction to the Raelians, is yet another data point supporting that claim.

Because they speak of Aliens and that is just plain not done, why it’s almost illegal. How silly, not like dead people coming back to life or flying off to some invisible kingdom whose whereabouts no one can say. Or a giant invisible man who fixes lotteries and football games. There are only 55,000 or so Raelians and billions of Christians who sponsors, politicians and advertisers worry about offending. They are an easy target to poke fun at, no clout. |

Hmmm, maybe it's because Christianity is, gee, I don't know, 2,000 years older.

You also need to consider that the Raeliens are making an unfounded claim about what would amount to the most daring medical success in recent memory.
If I successfully cloned a human being, I would certainly have all my notes available or at least be willing to sell the procedure to the highest bidder. I guess I didn't consider the hypocrisy angle because I agree that these people are loons who are probably making outrageous claims. Xtians? Hypocrisy? Since when? |

The messages dictated to Rael explain how life on Earth is not the result of random evolution, nor the work of a supernatural 'God'. It is a deliberate creation, using DNA, by a scientifically advanced people who made human beings literally in their image" what one can call "scientific creationism". References to these scientists and their work, as well as to their symbol of infinity can be found in the ancient texts of many cultures. For example, in Genesis, the biblical account of creation, the word "Elohim" has been mistranslated as "God" in the singular, but it is a plural, which means "those who came from the sky". Leaving our humanity to progress by itself, the Elohim nevertheless maintained contact with us via prophets including Buddha, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed, all specially chosen and educated by them. The role of the prophets was to progressively educate humanity through the messages they taught, each time adapted to the culture and level of understanding at the time. They were also to leave traces of the Elohim so that we would be able to recognise them as our creators and fellow human beings when we had advanced enough scientifically to understand them. I have always believed that people like the Raelians, and people who are attracted to New Age nonsense, are far wackier than people attracted to traditional religion. At least people attracted to traditional religion have the excuse of being indoctrinated from birth or being influenced by large social trends. Fringe groups have to pick up there BS all on there own.

I've also noticed how ironic it is for the Christians to make fun of the "crazy" Raelian claims. One group says that life on earth was created by an invisible creature named Yahweh, and another says that we were created by aliens. Yet the former theory is considered by millions to be perfectly acceptable while the latter is considered "bizarre" or "insane."
Gemma, you ARE aware that there are many, many religions older than Christianity, aren't you? Does that make those religions true? |
