When you hear 'one-true-god' folk (of any religion) speak about their one true god and you bring up the fact that there're innumerable gods and many people have claimed that they are the one true god you get the response that there are many paths to god. I suspect that they think this ubergod is their god.
They're saying that there is still just one god and people see it in different ways and have found different ways to worship it. So has this one omniscient revealed itself in different ways to the peoples of the world? Has it deliberately divided humanity into different religions knowing with it's omniscience what the results would be? ie the whole of human history( in relation to religion). Has human history been one big social experiment? Chuck a few pebbles into a pond and see the action unfold.
Is it vaguely like The Matrix Reloaded exposition?
This supreme being must have wanted to see all this pain and strife. Maybe that's how humanity has to exist. We can't live in a paradise, we need the conflict.

In hinduism there is a belief that Brahman the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer, are all different sides or aspects of the true Brahman. Different gods are merely the same god with a different concievable form.

Giver of wisdom, Creator of all, Father of life and love and of all that is good, hear those who seek you.

May your strength and presence protect us from those who would remove us from our lands and our customs, from those who would take our freedom and cast us from paradise, from those who would rend the land to destroy us by fire, and raise the sea to destroy us by flood.

Deliver us from the armies of those who have murdered our young sons and ravaged our young mothers, who have burned our cities and committed genocide upon our neighbors, and who daily seek to enslave us.
