Well now I'm feeling deprived because I've never seen one!

On a sidenote, is it true that Dr Pepper is basically just Coke with Prune juice mixed in? If not, that's a great urban legend.

I'm skeptical about the claim made in the OP. Anyone seen one or any news coverage of the "controversy"?

Bookman

P.S. On a side note, there is no prune juice in Dr P, at least according to the good folks at snopes.com.

For those of us who listen to Christian radio "religiously" (and skeptomasochistically), you betcha, there's been PLENTY of coverage of this "controversy." On Point of View, yesterday afternoon, for instance, Penna Dexter interviewed a representative from Dr Pepper and asked her why they replaced "under God" with "..." on the cans (which I understand are available only in a few states). The representative was ridiculed for several minutes for saying that they just didn't have room on the can for two extra words. I wish the Dr Pepper woman would have just been honest instead of prevaricating like that. Just tell them that the company didn't want to turn people off by looking like complete idiots!

Later on the entire Point of View panel joked about how the woman had had a foreign accent so why didn't she just go back to where she'd come from (!!?!)

Of course, christians everywhere were urged to boycott Dr Pepper and whatever company owns them.

I'm sure those companies are now trembling with fear that their sales will go WAY DOWN.

I wonder if Point of View is aware of the original wording of The Pledge of Allegiance, and that the words "under God" were not added until 1954

I don't drink soft drinks, but I may have to buy a case of Dr Pepper now.

Yeah, I can just imagine what kind of freaky fundies would write Dr. Pepper about that.

another thread like this in church state separation.

It's not really a c-s issue, except that the Pledge is a c-s issue.
