Or you could just forego the entire program in favor of observing Totalitarianist for a few weeks.
I think anyone would conclude that there was no god after that. |

Smoke a joint. I am very serious, how can you overcome years of indoctrination?
Thomas Paine said, Any system of religion that has anything in it that shocks the mind of a child, cannot be a true system. – the problem is how to go back to be a kid again, how to suppress your higher centers in your cerebral cortex which the society filled with a lot of shit over the years. Though I am an atheist, I consider some of the steps listed above are not valid. For example,
1. Godless Dave Moderator Registered: February 2002 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 4227 Step 1: Admit that you are NOT powerless over your life. Why do religions exist in this world and in every culture? The reason is that humans do not know about the future and feel so powerless to control their own future. Death, disease, divorce, loss of relatives, unemployment etc so many unexpected things happen in life so that human would seek religion in order to take some relieve. I believe that religion will never disappear on earth as human must face difficulties throughout their life. 2. mike_decock User Registered: March 2003 Location: Texas Posts: 497 Step X: Repeat to yourself these phrases every day. Faith is different than trust. Faith is by definition illogical. I will not get struck by lightning if I question my faith. Popularity of belief does not make it true. Ignorance isn't evidence. What? faith is illogical? So what is logical? U mean science? Do u know that every scientific theory must depend on some degree of trust/faith in order for them to proceed to their conclusion? For example, Newton developed mechanics based on one of the premise that mass will remain constant within an enclosed system. But this premise was proven wrong by Albert Einstein who stated energy and mass are interconvertible. So almost everything in our life require us to have faith on them, the problem lies in the criteria that we choose something to believe. 3. Paperstreet New User Registered: April 2003 Location: Maryland Posts: 78 Read a science textbook, especially biology, and especially the chapters on evolution. Do u know that evolution is largely an hypothesis that is never proved to be true? For example, can u do any experiment to prove that human evolved from apes? Without experimentation, evolution is never regarded as an scientific theory. |
