Of course, then you stop for even five minutes and think about it, and the whole thing kind of falls apart. But so does The Matrix (what are the humans breathing? There aren't any damn plants left on Earth!).
I agree. I found The Matrix impressive, even compelling, for the time I spent watching it. But it left a weird aftertaste. It promised so much, but in the end it did not live up to its promises. As much as I liked some of the fundamental ideas, I couldn't seem to make use of them because ultimately so much of it did not add up. It was too scattered and busy trying to be impressive and not enough concerned with real substance. And so I ultimately felt rather betrayed by it, strange as that sounds.

I have similar feelings for Titanic, which several have already mentioned. I admit I came out of the theater sniffling and overwhelmed by emotion. It was only later that I realized I had been manipulated by this film rather than truly moved. Titanic preyed on my emotions instead of allowing them free reign. I was always told what to think, what to feel, what to believe about everything that happened. Also, looking back, there were so many inconsistencies in the film's most important assertions about love, courage and human nature. Rose chants "I won't let go" while she releases Jack's lifeless body to sink into the abyss of the dark frigid waters. And in the face of the tremendously tragic event of the sinking of the Titanic, we're asked to still care about the silly infatuation which was all these two ever shared? How sick.

Some of the stuff I've seen mentioned here makes "Let's Kill Uncle" seem pretty good.

Thumbs down

-Star Trek V - interesting at first then goes right into the toilet
-any of the Highlander series except for the original
-AI - just cut out the last 1/2 hour or so
-The Thin Red Line - how can a movie with so many big stars SUCK so BADLY? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
-worse even than Scary Movie was Scary movie 2!
-sorry, but I have to say Goldmember, all the gags were old, there's nothing original in this one
-and these last three, I'm actually embarrassed to admit having watched at all:

-Beaches
-what's the name? Streisand and Nick Nolte... oh yeah, The Prince of Tides (see, I've blocked the name out of my mind)
-and of course, Titanic - a film that takes longer than the actual event it depicts!

Don't be sorry, that movie sucked a fat one. I liked the opening 10 min. or so, but afterwards I think I spent 90% of the movie cringing in pain.

As far as "mainstream" movies are concerned, Armageddon and Face Off were among the crappiest I've ever seen.

Those movies just plain sucked.

...and Time Machine. I there was a real time machine in the theatre so I could transport myself back two hours and give myself a punch in the nuts for considering that piece of crap.

As for uncommon pictures, "Redneck Zombies" was about as bad as you might guess it is.

I was a big Highlander fan until the second movie came along and turned the immortals into FREAKING ALIENS. Ye gods.

David Hasslehoff was in that? I don't remember him in that one.

Hey, it had spaceships, explosions, a heroine that kept posing for the camera, and more spaceships. I saw it when I was 10 or 11, and it worked quite nicely . . . for a 10/11 year old!

Recently, I endured (despite repeated screams of agony) something called "Sweet November" (or something like that). Keanu, we loved ya in "The Matrix", but we will have a difficult time forgiving you for this one!
