MAO, crime and possible therapy
<a href="http://www.news.wisc.edu/view.html?get=7695" target="_blank">http://www.news.wisc.edu/view.html?get=7695</a>
From the link above it shows I think fairly clearly that the less effective MAO-A gene makes it more likely for a male particularly (females need both alleles on each X chromosome)likely to have social problems. Now Ironically, what are millions of people being prescribed daily? Well MAO-A (and MAO-B, but that is another story) inhibitors, of course. But these poeple in the study, short of gene therapy, need to have more MAO in their brains. Now, I am not in this field so I don't know how this can be done if at all. At the very least they need to know how to avoid lessening the already weak MAO-A levels in their brains, whether it be through diet or avoidance of certain stimuli, etc... Anyone out there have a clue about this subject? |
