I like that idea JT. I'm starting to have alot of affinity to a certian type of Taoism. It allows for my belief in her ability and my acceptance of energy flow and manipulation and the natural flow of the world without demanding a belief in an afterlife or gods. I find it refreshing, offering just what I need right now. I may, and probably will, again change my mind. A somewhat appeased Nero [/QUOTE] Never be afraid to change your mind. Spirituality is movement and those who refuse to move fall into traps like fundamentalism. We often describe our spiritual work as a path and so it is. But, it is not a path in the sense of one in a wood that exists whether it is walked or not. A spiritual path is created by the movement of the traveler through the truths of his life. Stop moving spiritually and the path disappears. I recommend you actively search for things that challenge your understanding. Set out to change your mind. JT Check your private messages. |

Our personhood ends at death. The individual does not move on. The impression we leave is not a person. It is a foot print on the beach. We may be able to tell if the person was heavy, young, alone, walking or running. Perhaps he stood here a moment to watch the gulls or sat here to rest. Here the prints enter the sea and here they come out again. Here they move into the dunes and are lost. We can know some things about the person but we can never know the person. The impressions remain. The person is gone. JT |

The idea that death is the end of personhood is too bad to be true. It is a damnable doctrine, a heresy as much as is the Christian and Islamic heresy of eternal hell for unbelievers.
