SecularFuture's post is very disturbing. Who knew that Bush was including fundy code words in his speeches?

As a recovering fundie, I recognize all kinds of coding in almost everyone of his speaches. I know he's a devout Christian, but I also think that this is a political ploy to gain the support from the Christian majority in this country.

I like the way Garrison Keillor (sp?) puts it, something along the lines of, "Republicans pray differently than the rest of us; they pray that God will make clear to everyone else what he has already made clear to them." LOL. That's one theistic viewpoint I agree with.

Did I already voice my call to action to tape this Newsweek cover into public toilet bowls and urinals.
To say it with Triumph, the insult comic dog: Bush and God - the greatest leaders in the world ..... for me to poop on!

Yeah! So nice to see there's no bias in the media!

Actually, I did. If you go and pick up a hard copy of that particular Newsweek, there's a sidebar to the article that lists all of these (presumably where SF got them).

From the link in SF's post:
Quote:
Muslims are especially wary. Bush has gone to great lengths to reassure them that he admires their religion. He has hosted Ramadan dinners, and periodically criticized evangelicals, including Franklin Graham, who denounce Islam as a corrupt, violent faith. Still, evangelical missionaries don’t hide their desire to convert Muslims to Christianity, even—if not especially—in Baghdad. If one of the goals of ousting Saddam Hussein is to bring freedom of worship to an oppressed people, how can the president object?
Hmm... well, he's objecting now that some of our "allies" won't support his little war. How can he object? I'm sure he'll find some way.

Actually, I haven't heard anything from an Allah or a Yahweh. Bush, and evangelical Christians want this war, not some gods.

I haven't seen a hand, or foot, or spleen, or any other body part, of any gods in these events, just human bodies and parts.

Coming soon to Bagdad as just the body parts...

I've noticed several of the CNN, Newsweek, and other polls about the religion "question" seem to be quite biased towards "religion = good".
CNN, Fox, even MSNBC are now blocked on my TV (all War Religion, Right wing, all the time!) I get my TV news from a more reliable source. The Daily Show on comedy central.
It seems that W is being equated with "GOD". What Bush says is what "GOD" would say, etc. Thus to speak out against Bush is equivalent to speaking out against "GOD". Can't have that! This is America! Where Liberal is a dirty word!

I am disgusted that this dogma spouting MORON is running this country. Dividing the Indivisible.:banghead:

Welcome, Raw Data! Nice post!

I agree. I did a thread some time ago saying that someone had to be right, since both W and Saddam were invoking a higher power to justify their actions. I had linked to an article that gave examples on each side. My point was that it was dangerous to use something which is so emotionally charged (religion) as a mean to further political ends. Not only dangerous, but wrong. It generates blind support for your actions, and those who oppose you will be seen as un-patriotic or worse, traiterous! Both sides are playing the same game with their people, and don't see how inherently dangerous it is for all involved.

While in Iraq, Saddam is being equated with "ALLAH." What Saddam says is what "ALLAH" would say ... you get my point (I hope).
