Why is incest bad?
Ok, yes, I know about the increased chances for birth defects, and I know these chances increase more the closer you are related.
But, assuming all necessary precautions have been taken to avoid pregnancy, such as sterilization or whatnot, why can't a brother and sister, first cousins, etc., feel free to have sexual relations with each other (and yes, assume for this question that the two are of legal age). When I asked this question at work (they're used to odd questions from me), most people couldn't handle the idea, even though they admitted that they could give no logical reason against it. In fact, they openly admitted that the 'taboo' is the best thing. So, my question is: What is the logical reason for avoiding incest? As a sub-question, should relatives be allowed to get married? If this is not the appropriate area for this topic, moderators feel free to move it. <img src="graemlins/notworthy.gif" border="0" alt="[Not Worthy]" /> Ta-ta, see ya', and don't piss off the clowns. alex |
