Default "When I was an atheist I hated God"

I see and hear this quite often in testimonies.
Although you can say that if you hated god(s) you are no atheist as by hating god(s) you appear to acknowlegde their existence. (but is this a "no true scotsman fallacy"?)
But what if there is some grain of truth to this claim?
The believer may have previously hated the concept of god(s) or negative experiences of relgion and hatred for related insitutions. They are simply "relocating" this hatred in retrospect.

Not very clear. But this claim has me confused.

I am a beliver , I have never hated God , actually I love God so much
but I hate what People are doing in His name?
I hate when people start wars in His name , and my God is the God of peace

some people hate and blame God for what human are doing in His name (wars , Kilings, hatred , violence ...all in his name )

My God is the most loving and the most beatiful thing in my life

This is a joke right? Please tell me this is a joke?

I am guessing that your "god" is the "god" of the xtian Bible? What about all the killing and murdering and raping and pillaging that your god either ordered, or carried out himself? Do you hate that?
Do you hate the fact that your "god of peace" (supposedly) has the power to end all pain and suffering in the world, and yet it merely sits back and watches?

I mean, if people are doing all these terrible things in his name, and he doesn't like it, why doesn't he put a stop to it. In some arenas of life, silence is presumed to be assent.

Do those giving the testimonies claim to be atheists or did they say they weren't christians and others have made the connection?

There was a time I hated God. Whilst I wasn't a christian at the time, I wouldn't claim I was an atheist either.

I've seen it too--and had it thrown at me way too many times. I agree that it's a retrospective analysis. First, by the definition of atheist, if you "hated God," you never were an atheist in the first place. You might not have been a Christian, or Muslim, or whatever, but simply the fact that you believed in some big sky daddy that was calling the shots disqualifies one from being an atheist. It's just an attempt to discredit the atheist philosophy--people who say this usually think the reason the atheist doesn't believe in God is because we think He's universally wronged us somehow, and we're funneling our anger into disbelief. These types of people usually know nothing about real atheists.

The specifics of it are very personal. If I was completely anonymous on this board I wouldn't hesitate to explain, but I'm not. There are a number of folks who know me from outside this board.

MY LORD let your light lit my life

So did your god create this world? Did he create us? Was Jesus his child?

If your god is not the god of the bible, or koran, or other holy books, how did you come to know him/her/it?
