Need input immediately!
A group on campus is holding a lecture on end times prophesies in the Book of Revelation, and they claim evidence that even atheists can't deny! (or so their signs claim)
Anywho, I'm considering going because I won't be doing anything that night, and would like some help in figureing out questions to ask that will challenge their fairy tales. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

For some scholarly resources on Revelation and the history of "the end of the world is nigh" proclamations, see this page:

Can you toddle along to the Christian's meeting and tell me some of this undeniable evidence so I can deny it? Quote:
You asked for thoughts, well mine would be: What the hell are your motives here? Why not leave the baby with the candy? I suggest if you're genuinely curious in hearing what they've got to say then you go along and listen. If not - well going along soley for the purpose of annoying your fellow man isn't very nice is it? What does that say about yourself and what sort of a view of Atheists does that present to the world - the real one? |

As for letting people have their "candy", when I'm around people who are spouting off beliefs that are insulting to me, then I don't like sitting quiet, which too often I have too. For example, recently I was at a club here on campus, and a girl there started talking about how horrible America was and how all US military personell were as bad as Nazis Stormtroopers. Coming from a family with a fairly strong military background, I was angry at what she said, however I kept quiet. The sign they had posted today was very similar in tone to the girl's, and so I took it a little harsher than I should have. |

They are not babies with candy. They are adults with the right to vote and own firearms. Some of them might go on to be Attorney General or hold high positions in the American government and be in a position to help the end times along, or risk nuclear war over Israel because of some nonsense in Revelations.
Besides, they are not sitting quietly in the playpen with their candy, they have issued a challenge. |

Frankly, if I saw a baby eating candy that I knew was highly addictive and brain damaging, I'd try to take it away from them.
But we aren't talking about babies here are we? Nor about candy. We are talking about adults, and about lies. Addicting and brain damaging lies, true enough... [ October 24, 2002: Message edited by: Jobar ]</p> |
