Maureen Dowd in New York Times on the Christian Reconstructionist reasoning behind the Iraqi war. (free subscription required to view, well worth it)
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/06/opinion/06DOWD.html?8hpib More support for what I've been talking about re: the End Days zealots legal takeover-in-process of America. Wish I weren't right--I hate conspiracy theorists. |

Good article. But it's about evangelicals, not all of whom are Reconstructionists

I think Dowd actually wimped out in her op/ed. Though I do have to give her credit for at least bringing it up.
I've been trying to beat the drums over the disturbing linkage between Middle East politics and xian fundy Armegeddon fantasies for years. I'm glad to see this under-baked idiology (sic) is finally beginning to be examined by the mainstream media, and I would like to see my own fundy a-hole US Senator Jim "because it says so in the bible" Inhofe questioned about it publicly. By Mike Wallace if possible. Unfortunately, the Democrat running against him will probably shy away from bringing up any religion issues in the campaign, even when they border on insanity. I cannot fathom how people are so willing to march off to war based on Falwell's or Robertson's interpretation of Daniel and Revelations. [ October 14, 2002: Message edited by: BibleBelted ]
|
