Default Infinitely Many Yesterdays

I believe Aquinas was saying that an infinite regress was impossible for the following reason: If time ran infinitely into the past the universe would necessarily have had to "traverse" an infinite number of time increments (pick one: second, day, week, year, etc.) before reaching today. IOW, half of infinity is still infinity. Aquinas would have us think that we would never reach today if we had to traverse an infinite number of yesterdays. Since we are obviously here, today, Aquinas asserted that an infinite regress without a first cause would be impossible.
