Talking Robertson's prayer offensive

Well yes, it is offensive:

"We ask for miracles in regard to the Supreme Court,'' Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club.''

Robertson has launched a 21-day "prayer offensive'' directed at the Supreme Court in the wake of its 6-3 June vote that decriminalized sodomy. . . .

"One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?''

What an ass.

Ohh please. What a focking moron Robertson is. Why doesn't he retire his own ass? Like three democrats are going to retire in the middle of the Bush administration? Idiot. Utter idiot. God's gonna come down here and make 'em retire right? Well why didn't God just make them vote the way Pat Robertson wanted them to?

Yep. I suspect that Stevens would rather sever his own left leg with a rusty hacksaw than retire on Bush43's watch. Besides, Stevens is gonna work until his last day. He'll drop dead in chambers someday while reading a colleague's draft opinion, probably one of Scalia's.

But hey, to Robertson's credit, he's only calling on God to use gentle persuasion. I've got some vague, many-years-old recollection of a different televangelist praying that God whack Supreme Court justices by giving them heart attacks or making them get in fatal car wrecks and shit.

On a lighter note, here is Betty Bowers reaction to Pat's offensive;

We recall, O Lord, how you told Oral Roberts years ago that if he didn't come up with one million dollars pronto, you would break his legs and then kill or otherwise inconvenience him. Perhaps, you struck a similar bargain with Brother Pat. Only this time, out of your understandable frustration over Brother Roberts beating you in your own bet, raised the stakes to such lofty levels that it was too much money for even Brother Pat to cough up without having to sell his beloved race horses.

Nevertheless, we ask, O Lord, that you spare Brother Pat from your wrath. In lieu of that, we ask Jesus that you allow Brother Pat's illness to be prolonged enough to allow him to become weepy in scores of telecasts of the 700 Club so that the phone banks will peal like a Christmas carillon, as sobbing homemakers in trailers throughout this glorious land send in cash to your glory!

In your Glorious name Lord Jesus, this I pray.

Robertson has obviously gone senile.

I'm so sick and tired of conservative crypto-nazis thumping their bibles in justification of some statist "moral order." It seems to me that they simply cannot allow socials progress, due largely to the fact that it will ultimately weaken the grip that Christianity has on the world.

Well, I for one expect Robertson to throw up his hands and embrace liberalism after his God refuses to show His hand and pluck justices from the bench. I mean, what does he have to lose other than his millions of devoted worshippers and a tax shelter?

I'll just be over here holding my breath.

...doing just fine thanks... ...this may be a little harder than I thought... ...say, this breathholding is hard...

Question

Was the recent 'prayer siege' the beginning of this offensive?

Normally, one would counter an offensive with some sort of defensive tactic. I feel though, that we should have our own offensive. While Pat & Co. are busy sitting around praying, the rest of us will get out there and do something! Let's see him pray while the rest of us are out voting next November!

You go, Pat!

well at least he wasn't asking God to punch their ticket, at least not openly

how political the court has become and how fortunate that there are term limits so these guys can at least have a shot at retiring once a decade or so.

btw, who was the last conservative judge who had to hold on till near death to retire under a like minded administration?
