I think it is attibuted to Hitler, but just about about any leader wishing to remove freedoms has said something similar.

Yes the answer is Hitler, 1933.
I was just so struck by the similarity of expression i.e. "great nation," "evil threatens". Gave me quite a chill. |

It is chilling. When a world leader conjures the rhetoric of evil in the same breath as patriotism, you know we could be in for a bumpy ride....
