Catholics at it again
In Argentina this time.
Oral contraceptive ban outrage But at least the Argentine health minister has vowed to have the judicial ruling overturned. Good for her but will it happen in time to save the existing contraceptive stock?? In a country where it is already illegal to have an abortion and carries a prison sentence this could indeed be catastrophic for women if it is not repealed. A perfect example of the church sticking it's oar in where it has no right to. Makes me so angry. |

That's one of the reasons I am no longer Catholic or Xian of any kind. There was a case in Chile earlier this year about a couple that had killed 7 (if I remember correctly) of their children since abortion is illegal and they could not get birth control (and this is one of the most modern South/Central American countries, except for the Catholic Church having so much power there).

My objection to the catholic church is not that the hierarchy are against contraception and abortion. I think they are entitled to put this forward as a moral case for their adherents (mnay of whom, however, profoundly disagree). What I find reprehensible is that they seek every possible means to bring political pressure to bear to impose their views on believers and non-believers alike through the law. Whatever they may occasionally claim, they do not support separation of church and state.
