What is Your Major Reason for Not Believing in God?
Hey everyone,
I just have one short question. What is yours one main reason for not believing in God? Thanks Tibbs |

Because if he exists, he is hiding. Given that we cannot detect the difference between a world where he exists, and a world he does not, the most rational decision to make is that God is fictional.

Ummmm.... let me think here.... one moment, it'll come to me.
Oh yes: God doesn't exist. That was it. Yep. |

I have yet to see any compelling evidence that any gods exist. Until I see such evidence, I will not hold a belief in any gods.

No good arguments for god.

First, I never heard any good argument for god's existence. Second, when I read the ontological, cosmological, and teleological arguments, I realised that there are no good arguments. Christians wouldn't be using bad arguments if they had good arguments. crc |

Hi, JubalsCalls, welcome to the infidels discussion forum.
Lack of belief is the default position. Until I'm provided with a coherent definition for what a 'god' is, what its repeatable properties are, what it is made of, etc, I don't find it to be a meaningful term. And until I'm provided with solid evidence that this entity exists, lack of belief is the only rational approach. Or do you specifically mean the Christian God? In that case, its easy. The Old Testament describes a god that is petty, brutal, homicidal, and mysogynist, and that's just the first book. As far as the New Testament, I find the idea of a human sacrifice as atonement to be primitive and barbaric. The whole story makes zero sense to me. Cheers! -Kelly |

The stories people tell about their gods don't seem to match reality. Given that their stories are supposed to describe reality, they should mesh with observed reality. Since they don't, I must conclude that the stories aren't true.
